Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a dark blue septagon, one point down bordered gold bearing a gold Roman Centurian's helmet detailed dark blue and garnished scarlet, superimposed at bottom by a scarlet scroll inscribed "FIGHT TO SERVE" in gold letters.

Symbolism
Dark blue and scarlet are the colors traditionally associated with personnel units; gold signifies honor. The septagon alludes to the numerical designation of the Group and the Corps it supports. The helmet characterizes combat readiness and the individual soldier while symbolizing the unit's World War II service and Rome-Arno campaign participation. The red scroll suggests the Meritorious Unit Commendation streamer awarded to the unit for action in the Mediterranean Theater.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved effective 6 July 1990.
